Chapter Ninety-Nine

Delanie POV

“Are you sure about this?” Ajax asked.

“Yes,” I gripped his hands. “I have a wolf. I’m an omega! Wait, are you mad?”

“Mad? Of course not. I love you regardless.”

He stopped and stared at me. I felt his wolf come through. The corners of his mouth lifted. He felt the mate bond. It was the most beautiful thing I felt. I felt my child in the house. I felt her calmness. It was truly over.

She was safe.

“What do we do now? Do you want to go for a run?”

Ajax laughed. “We’ll have time but I have to talk to my brother. The goddess wants this Pack and she’s going to have it.”

“Do you think Oscar’s going to accept?” I questioned.

“He has no choice.”

“I’ll get Annika. Let’s go.”

He was about to protest but I darted into the house before he opened his mouth.

“Ajax, what is the meaning of this?” Odin asked. He met us in the foyer wearing a royal bathrobe.

“I just got here,” my mate frowned.

“Your brother’s locked in his room and we can’t get in. The moon goddess is here.”

“Oh, she beat us here,” Ajax smirked.

Odin focused on Annika and me. “Is that her?” he asked softly.

Annika looked around the house her Father grew up in.

“Yeah, don’t get too excited though we’re not here for a casual visit. We’re leaving as soon as we’re done.”

Ajax harboured deep resentment for his Father and I couldn’t blame him. Odin had been grave mistakes that altered his life. His pain was my pain now. Our mate bond allowed me to feel all of him and it was amazing. I was a wolf. All my life I’d been taunted for being a human. I thought I was cursed by the moon goddess because I was the only one in an entire pack without a wolf to protect her. Now I had Odette. She was a fiery omega wolf who couldn’t wait to outrun her mate in a race.

“Son, I know I made a mistake—”

“Mistake? You could have told me years ago but you waited all this time. You allowed Oscar to blackmail you and you put the Pack in shit! Now look at us.”

Odin flinched. “You’ve always been the responsible one. I could always count on you so when threatened to leave the Pack I had no choice. I made a decision it was the wrong one but I had no choice.”

“Fuck that. I’m over it. I had a meeting with the moon goddess. I don’t want to hear about this ever again.”

“Ajax—”

“Enough!” Ajax roared.

Annika cooed which was enough to ease her Daddy’s rage. He smoothed her hair back and kisses her forehead. “I’m sorry. Let’s go.”

A bright blue light streamed out of Oscar’s bedroom.

“Are you sure it’s safe to take her in there?” I asked Ajax.

“We’ve tried for hours but the door won’t open,” Odin said.

Ajax turned the knob and threw the door in. “It worked for me.”

“Uh, Ajax we’ve been waiting for you,” the moon goddess said.

Odin and I shared a confused look as Ajax strolled into the bedroom.

“I can hold her. I know a few things about children.”

I chewed my bottom lip reluctant to give her away but he was her Grandfather. I set her in his arms to see if Annika would be comfortable. She settled into him without a fuss. Odin smiled and laughed like a normal grandfather would.

“I’ll be right back,” I said.

I entered the room to find Oscar standing in front of the moon goddess. Oscar, standing!

“How?” I gasped.

Oscar rolled his eyes. “All power being, does it not make sense?” Oscar said sarcastically.

“That or you were faking all this time,” I replied.

“I would never!” Oscar barked.

“We don’t know that,” Ajax grumbled.

“Yes, I healed him. Your brother has promised to hand over the title of Alpha to you Ajax.” The moon goddess smiled brightly.

“I didn’t promise that,” Oscar grumbled.

He is so difficult. She gave him back his legs can’t he compromise? Besides, he knows he’s a bad Alpha. He can’t run a Pack.

“Oscar!” the goddess roared.

“Fine, fine. Ajax can have the Pack. I don’t give a damn anyway.”

Oscar refused to meet Ajax’s eyes.

“Do it now?”

Oscar turned to his brother with a stern face. “I, Alpha Oscar relinquish my rights to the Mystic Pack and hand it over to my brother Alpha Ajax. There’s I did it.”

“I accept,” Ajax replied nonchalantly.

He would be a great Alpha and the Pack would love him. It already did.

“I warn you, Oscar, if you try to do anything to jeopardise our agreement. Your bloodline will perish. You’ve already brought a curse on your name and your mistress because of the blood you shed. I’ll leave it to Ajax to pass judgement on you. Cross me and you’ll deal with me.”

“Yes, I get it,” he raised his hands in surrender.

Even he knew his control wouldn’t last forever. He had his day in the sun, now he had to go back to the shadows now. The moon goddess turned to Ajax.

“The Pack’s yours I won’t fight you,” Ajax said quickly.

“Oh, I know Alpha Ajax. I’ll be watching you. Take care of your mate.” She winked at me before she vanished into thin air.

Ajax took my hand. “She has no idea how much you keep me sane.”

I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed. “It’s over. Can we go home now?”

“Of course.”
