Chapter 26
Layla looked back when she felt that Keith was no longer behind her. She was surprised because Keith disappeared so quickly. Isn't the movement too fast for a human to do? Suddenly the hairs on the back of her neck tingled, she became increasingly convinced that there were hidden secrets kept behind the walls of this mansion.
"We are leaving today?" Layla asked when Lucien came out of his study or rather the special room where he received guests who came to discuss business matters.
"You waiting here?"
"Yes, I saw you were receiving guests. I was reluctant to come in."
"You shouldn't wander around carelessly. You can't freely enter every room in this house!"
"Are you mad at me?"
"I hate seeing people who like to act as they please!"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"I told you that it was a stupid decision to let a stranger into this house!" Aiden said, who had just come out of the same room as Lucien. Aiden stepped out with Gavin, Levi and Jacob.
Seeing Aiden's cynical gaze scared Layla. His sharp amber eyes made him look like a fierce and cruel predator. However, there was something strange about the four of them, just like Keith, there were scratch marks on their faces, necks and arms. The scar was like a wild animal attack.
"Layla, go back to your room. Today you will not go with me!"
"But didn't you say-"
"Today is an exception!"
"Don't be stubborn, Miss! We don't have much time to respond to your questions!" Aiden said. He stepped past Layla who was still shocked by his statement.
Layla just realized that Aiden was very tall, he was probably almost two meters tall and if you looked closely, he was the tallest and most burly. His face always looked cold and angry, as if he hated everything in this house.
"Aiden!" Lucien called him and his call succeeded in making Aiden stop walking.
"What?"
"Apologize to her now!"
"What? What did you say?" Aiden was shocked to hear the most unreasonable order he had ever heard. Not only him, Gavin, Jacob and Levi were no less surprised.
"Lucien, I think you're exaggerating a little about this. I don't think Aiden needs to apologize to anyone. He didn't do anything wrong!" Levi said. He quite objected to Lucien' orders even though Lucien was the leader here. This is different from Gavin and Jacob who look very obedient and prefer to remain silent rather than interfere.
Aiden looked at Lucien, clearly not happy with being given orders that lowered his self-esteem like that. He can do anything Lucien orders him to do, even the most dangerous jobs. But apologizing to someone who he considered to be much lower than him was not something he would accept.
"I'm sure I heard wrong, Lucien!"
"You heard right, Aiden! I'm sure your hearing is still very sharp. So, you better just do what I tell you!"
"N-no, master! I don't think that's necessary. Aiden doesn't need to apologize to me at all!"
"Master? Are you finally self-aware enough to take him as your master? Or is that just the play of a vixen in heat?"
Aiden made his hatred even clearer. For him, there was nothing he hated more than the presence of a strange woman around them. Moreover, this woman has enormous potential to become a troublemaker. Just by looking at Layla, he was very sure that in the future this woman would cause a lot of problems.
"Aiden, you better just do what I say! You know I really hate rejection!" Lucien gave an ultimatum and none of them wanted him to say it again.
Layla felt a strange, dark and very strong atmosphere around her. She had never felt such intense turmoil coming from outside. Seeing the look on Aiden's face made her even more convinced that their relationship would get worse and maybe in the future, she wouldn't dare to even just pass by Aiden.
"Okay, as we all know, you are the alpha, you are the leader here. I will do whatever you say!" Aiden said as he stepped closer to Layla who was shaking with fear.
Aiden gave Layla a cruel and murderous look that made her almost forget how to breathe. Even though Aiden hadn't said anything, just seeing the look in his eyes made Layla almost faint.
"You better forgive me or you'll regret it!"
"Is he apologizing or is he threatening me?" Layla thought. She didn't know how to react.
"O-of course I forgive you, so-"
"Don't act like you're the boss here!"
"I don't act like a boss at all-"
"You'd better keep quiet or he'll break your fragile neck!" Levi said. Hearing his warning, Layla immediately swallowed hard. Aiden really looks like a man who won't hesitate to beat up anyone, even a woman. For whatever reason, she really didn't want anything to do with him.
Aiden left after ending the nonsense which he found so disgusting. Lyra looked at his back. In contrast to Lucas, who always appeared casual and neat, Aiden actually looked like a thug. He only wore a white singlet that was a little dirty and jeans that were also quite dirty, he looked more like a delinquent than one of the members of this family.
Gavin, Levi and Jacob immediately walked after him. They looked like they were in a hurry. However, there was still something that made her very curious, namely the scratch marks on the faces and bodies of the five brothers. Only Lucas looked fine, while Lucien was completely do not appear today.
"What time will you be home?" Lyra asked. For some reason, there was something inside her that didn't seem to want Lucas to be gone for too long.
"I don't know, there are important matters that need to be taken care of. You don't need to wait, you can go straight to dinner when the time comes."
"So, we won't have dinner together?" Lyra looked at him gently while touching his hand. Lucas was silent for a moment as he looked at Lyra's hand which was trying to reach him.
"You don't need to lock your room tonight. I'll go to your room when I get home."
"Is it true?"
"Yes."
"Promise?" Lyra showed her little finger asking Lucas to promise her that he would come to her room tonight.
"I don't want to promise, you can do it if you want." Lucas said as he walked away.
"I will be waiting for you!" Lyra said. She wanted to tell Lucas that she would wait for him because she was starting to really look forward to the time they could be together.
Lucas didn't give any answer and kept walking away. Lyra held her chest which was pounding very hard. Lucas had given her hope that once felt so impossible for her to achieve. She didn't want to lie to her heart that at this time she was starting to fall in love with the figure of the man who had read her leaving on the auction stage.
