Chapter 33 Kiss gone wrong
~Logan's pov~
Yesterday was the best day of my life. Me and Ava decided to just spent time together in her apartment instead of going out. I don't remember the last time I had felt this good.
She always had a way of making me feel so much better even if I was in bad mood. Just her presence alone make everything so much better for me.
I woke up earlier than her,we had fell asleep again on her small couch which couldn't fit my long legs but I wasn't complaining because she was wrapped around my body like a koala and I was loving every second of it.
I kept staring at her like some creepy from a horror movie, but I was only appreciating the beauty besides me. She was sleeping with her mouth open but I didn't mind that,I was actually glad she was free around me to be herself.
I was mesmerized by the way her eyelashes fluttered. Her eyelashes were long, her full lips were slightly pluckers as she pouted in her sleep. They were so inviting,I wish I could taste them again.
I started to lean in and when I was only an inch away from her face, she suddenly got up resulting in bumping my nose which hurts like hell,I put my hand in my nose feeling blood tickling down.
“Damn! Come down woman!"
“What the hell Logan? Why were you so close to me? What were you doing?" Why…" she kept talking and talking
“Damn! Nerd can't you see you knocked my nose? I'm bleeding do something"
Her eyes widened,”What!? What happened? Let me go find something to wash the blood away" before I could tell her I was fine, she rushed to the bathroom getting a wet towel.
“Ava,I'm fine" she was wiping my nose looking sad. I was sure she was blaming herself right now.
Well! If she knew that I tried to kiss her
I took her hands in mine and raised her chin to face me “Relax! I'm fine I was just trying to do something but lucky is not in my side" I said while smirking.
She raised her eyebrows “what were you going to do Logan Carter? Tell me now!"
I raised my hands “Ok! Ok,iwasactuallytryingtokissyou".
“Wait, repeat that" she stood up and put her hands on her waist waiting to scold me
“I was trying to kiss you,but you woke up abruptly and kinda knocked my nose"
She laughed “Well, that's good for you Carter, you can't kiss me while I was sleeping"
I sighed " okay! Stop laughing,it isn't funny nerd!”.
She slumped herself besides me " how did you sleep last night? Wasn't it uncomfortable?”
I grinned “I actually slept better than any other day, even though my feet were dangling on the floor, but it was better having you coiled around me,your body fit perfect to mine"
She smiled” I slept better too"
“Good?" I murmured.
Before I could say anything,my phone rang and I saw it was Levi,I ignored it,he called again once, twice and I decided to answer it.
He better have a good reason to destroy my quality time with my girlfriend.
“You better have something important Levi, otherwise…” I grunted.
" Dad called”
I stood up alarmed " What?," My voice boomed angrily “when? When did that fucker called you Levi?"
“He called me yesterday at night,he wants to see me " Levi said his voice turning hard.
“The hell he will! I'm coming to see you right now, don't go anywhere". I shouted at him even though I didn't want to yell at my brother but the anger I had right now,I couldn't control it.
“Logan, I'll be fine, you don't need to come"
“You can't convince me anything Levi,I'm coming to your apartment and that's final!" I hang up the phone before he could convince me to stay.
I forgot I was with Ava. I turned to her and she had a concerned look on her face. She stood up and took my hand “What's going on? Is that Levi you were talking to?"
I nodded " Someone is messing with him and I don't like that. I have to go to his apartment to talk to him”. I left the part of my father, because I didn't want her to find anything yet,I was not ready to tell her anything about my family.
She nodded " okay,I hope he's okay”
I hugged her tightly " Yes he's but I've to go, I'll see you later, right?”
" Yes, after I finish my shift” she said hugging me tightly like she didn't want me to go.
I brought her face closer and kissed her in her forehead. Oh! How much I loved kissing her.
" Bye, I'll see you later baby” I took my phone and hoodie then left her apartment in a hurry.
As I rushed out of Ava’s apartment, my mind was clouded with frustration. Levi was strong, but when it came to our father, I didn’t trust him to handle things alone. That man had a way of manipulating people, twisting words to make them question everything. And I wasn’t going to let him do that to Levi. Not again.
I gripped the steering wheel tightly as I drove to Levi’s place, my jaw clenched. My phone buzzed with another call, but I ignored it. I had one priority right now—getting to my brother.
By the time I reached his apartment, I was still seething. I knocked on his door aggressively, and a few seconds later, Levi opened it, looking unimpressed.
“Damn, Logan. You trying to break my door down?” he muttered, stepping aside to let me in.
I stormed inside, running a hand through my hair. “Tell me everything. What did he say?”
Levi sighed, closing the door behind him. “Not much. Just that he wanted to see me. Said he had something important to discuss.” He crossed his arms, leaning against the counter. “I didn’t respond.”
I scoffed. “Good. He doesn’t deserve a response.”
Levi sighed again, rubbing his temples. “I don’t know, Logan. What if it’s serious? What if...”
“No,” I cut him off sharply. “He doesn’t get that chance. You don’t owe him anything, Levi.”
“I know,” he said, but his voice wavered. “It’s just... I guess a part of me still wants answers.”
I exhaled heavily, my anger intensifying that made my body trembling . “Answers to what? He abandoned us, Levi. Left us with nothing. The only reason he’s calling now is because he wants something.”
Levi looked away, his jaw tightening. I could see the conflict in his eyes, but I refused to let him fall into our father’s trap.
Before I could say anything else, my phone buzzed again. This time, it was Ava. I hesitated before answering.
“Hey, baby,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
“Logan,” she started softly. “Are you okay?”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “Yeah. Just dealing with some family stuff.”
She was silent for a moment. “I know you don’t want to talk about it yet, but just remember I’m here, okay?”
A small smile tugged at my lips despite the anger still burning inside me. “I know, nerd. And I appreciate it.”
“Good,” she murmured. “Now go take care of Levi. I’ll see you later.”
“See you later,” I said, hanging up.
I turned back to Levi, who was watching me with a knowing look. “You’re really into her, huh?”
I smirked, shrugging. “She keeps me sane.”
Levi chuckled, but his expression sobered quickly. “So what do I do about Dad?”
I clenched my fists. “We ignore him. And if he tries to push his way back into our lives... we shut him down.”
Levi nodded slowly. “Yeah. You’re right.”
I clapped a hand on his shoulder. “Damn right, I am.”
For the first time since the call, Levi looked relieved. And as much as I hated our father for trying to crawl back into our lives, I knew one thing for sure he wasn’t going to get anywhere near my brother.
