Chapter 31 Be my girlfriend
Ava’s POV
Charlotte and I had managed to snag a table near the window cafeteria, where the sun streamed in, warming the wooden surface.
I stabbed my fork into my salad, listening to Charlotte ramble about some drama between her and Tristan when a shadow suddenly fell over us.
“Mind if I join?”
I looked up, surprised to see Levi Carter standing beside our table, a charming grin on his face.
Carter's siblings are charming!.
Charlotte, ever the flirt, beamed at him. “Of course! Sit with us anytime, handsome.”
Levi chuckled and pulled out a chair. “I’ll take that as an official invitation.”
I shook my head with a small smile. Levi was different from Logan, softer around the edges, with an easygoing aura that made him instantly likable. He was also just as attractive, and I could already feel the stares from nearby tables as he settled in.
“So,” Levi started, looking between me and Charlotte, “what do you guys do for fun around here?”
“Fun?” Charlotte scoffed. “Please, this campus is boring. Unless you count last weekend’s party, which I’m guessing you missed.”
Levi shrugged. “Not really my scene.”
I arched my brow. “And Logan’s?”
Levi smirked. “Oh, definitely his scene.”
I rolled my eyes, but before I could respond, another presence loomed beside our table.
“Levi,” Logan’s deep voice cut through the air.
I turned, and there he wasbLogan Carter, standing with his arms crossed, his sharp eyes passing between me, Charlotte, and Levi.
Levi smirked up at him. “Hey, big bro.”
“You didn’t mention you were eating with my girl.” Logan’s eyes locked onto mine as he casually pulled out the chair beside me and sat down.
I felt my face heat. His girl?
Levi raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t know I needed permission.”
“You don’t.” Logan leaned back, throwing an arm over the chair. “Just making sure you’re not trying to steal her.”
Charlotte snorted. “Relax, Carter. Levi’s been nothing but a gentleman.”
Levi rolled his eyes. “Yeah, but Logan here is territorial, his protective ass behavior is annoying”.
I glanced around, suddenly aware that the entire cafeteria was watching us.
Because sitting at one table were both Carter brothers.
Everyone knew Levi and Logan looked alike, with the same sharp features, piercing blue eyes, same athletic build but they weren’t twins. They weren’t even in the same year. Yet seeing them together like this had people whispering.
They were staring.
But Logan didn’t care. His knee brushed against mine under the table, his arm still resting lazily on my chair as if to make a statement.
And maybe he was making a statement.
But we haven't made anything clear after our kiss yesterday, and I began to wonder if he meant it.
Because as much as Levi and Logan bickered, there was no denying one thing they loved each other like brothers. Because, in the end, they only had each other.
Logan’s car packed in front of my apartment building.
“You wanna come in?” I asked before I could second-guess myself.
Logan raised an eyebrow, looking amused. “Are you sure?”
I rolled my eyes. “Don’t get any ideas, Carter. I’m just cooking dinner, get your mind out of the gutter”.
He smirked. “Fine. But I am getting ideas.”
I smacked his arm before hopping out of the car.
I tossed my bag onto the couch and headed for the kitchen. Logan followed, leaning against the counter as I searched through the fridge.
“I’m making pasta,” I announced.
“Good. I’m starving.”
I grabbed the ingredients, but before I could start chopping, Logan reached over and took the knife from my hand.
I frowned. “What are you doing?”
“Helping my girl”
I gave him a doubtful look. “Do you even know how to cook?”
He grinned. “Nope.”
I groaned. “Logan…”
“Relax, nerd. Just tell me what to do.”
Despite my hesitation, I let him stay. And somehow, between my instructions and his teasing, we managed to make something edible.
But the tension was high.
Every time he brushed his fingers against mine. Every glance he stole while I stirred the sauce. The way he stood too close, his body heat warmed my back.
I was suddenly nervous being around him.
And I had a feeling he knew it.
With full stomachs and the night still young, I grabbed my laptop and settled onto the couch.
“Movie?” I suggested.
Logan smirked. “You just wanna cuddle with me, don’t you?”
I shot him a glare. “You’re so full of yourself.”
“Yet, here I am, on your couch, about to watch a movie with you.”
I huffed but didn’t argue.
Logan sat beside me, and before I knew it, I was tucked under his arm, my head resting against his chest.
The movie played, but I wasn’t really paying attention.
Because all I could think about was him.
His warmth. His scent. The steady rise and fall of his chest beneath my cheek.
Then, the scene changed.
On the screen, the lead actors leaned in, eyes dark with longing before their lips met in a slow, passionate kiss.
I swallowed.
I could feel Logan watching me.
And then…
His fingers touched my chin, tilting it up gently.
My breath hitched as his blue eyes darkened, his thumb brushing lightly against my skin.
Then, he kissed me.
It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t just a press of the lips.
It was deep. Slow. A claiming.
My fingers curled into his shirt as he pulled me closer, his other hand slipping to my waist. His lips moved with purpose, coaxing a response from me, and I melted into him, my heart was pounding hard against my ribs.
By the time we finally pulled away, I was breathless.
Logan’s forehead rested against mine, his thumb still caressing my jaw.
Then, in a husky whisper, he said
“Be my girlfriend, Ava.”
My heart stopped.
I blinked up at him, my heart racing.
There was no teasing in his eyes. No smug smirk.
Just an open sincerity.
A slow smile spread across my lips.
“Yes.”
Logan exhaled, grinning as he leaned in and kissed me again.
