Chapter 111: I'm Carrying Twins

Anne tugged at her sleeve and shot a cool glance at Nolan. "I didn't push her," she said, unable to hold back.

"I know," Nolan replied.

His response caught her off guard. No wonder he hadn't blamed her since it all went down.

"We've been together for years. How could I not know you? You'd never do something like that. You were so clear-cut about our divorce. Why would you hurt Cleo's unborn child because of me?"

"Sometimes I wish you had a bit of hatred towards Cleo," Anne admitted.

Nolan gave a bitter smile. "Cleo underestimated how well I know you and even more so how well I know her."

Anne took a deep breath. "Then you should know that Cleo fell down the stairs herself. She used her unborn child to frame me. Have you..."

She hesitated. "Have you ever doubted her?" she asked, trying to be indirect.

"Doubt what?" Nolan looked puzzled.

Anne sighed. Nolan was smart, but sometimes he was so dense.

She gritted her teeth and decided to be blunt. "Have you ever doubted that the child Cleo is carrying isn't yours?"

Nolan was stunned, speechless for a long time.

"I saw her with another man."

"Impossible, that's absolutely impossible," Nolan suddenly denied, his voice intense.

"We were married for eight years without kids, but now I'm pregnant. Have you ever thought about whose problem it was that we didn't have children back then?"

Anne didn't want to be too direct, but Nolan needed her to lay it all out in the open.

Nolan's face grew serious, and he was silent. Anne noticed his hands trembling.

She took a deep breath. "That's all I can say. If you want to stay trapped in this lie, there's nothing I can do."

Nolan lowered his head, looking defeated.

"Nolan, how's my grandson?" Raina's anxious voice cut through the tension. She rushed over and, seeing Anne, lunged at her like a madwoman.

"You bitch, you pushed Cleo and tried to kill my grandson. I'll strangle you!"

Dorian stepped in front of Anne and gently pushed Raina, causing her to fall hard to the ground. Raina was stunned and started shouting with red eyes.

"They hit me! Is there anyone to judge this? These two bastards hit me!"

"Mom, shut up!" Nolan rarely scolded Raina angrily, "Aren't you ashamed enough?"

Raina's eyes turned even redder. "You're scolding me for two outsiders? Are you still my son?"

Nolan was speechless. Raina started crying. "I've endured so much raising a son, only for him to help outsiders and bully his own mother. What a wretched woman I am."

"And my grandson, if anything happens to him, I'll make sure your unborn child pays for it!"

Raina glared menacingly at Anne's belly. Anne instinctively protected her belly with her hands, feeling grateful she had divorced Nolan and distanced herself from these toxic people early on.

With Raina's terrible behavior, if she had a child, the child would surely be unfortunate.

At that moment, a group of police officers arrived, glanced around, and then quickly walked towards Anne.

"Are you Anne?" one of the officers asked.

"Yeah, that's me," she replied.

"Someone reported you for suspected murder. We need you to come with us to the station."

Anne felt a lump in her throat but managed to say, "Alright, I'll come."

Just as she was about to step forward, she felt a warm hand clasp hers. It was Dorian. "I'll go with you," he said softly.

Dorian stayed by her side at the police station. After giving her statement for over an hour, she told the police everything she knew.

When she finally walked out, it was pitch dark. Who would've thought she'd be in and out of the police station so many times in just half a year?

She didn't know who reported her, but it was clear someone was out to get her, trying to frame her. But Anne wasn't scared.

As she stepped out, she saw Dorian leaning against the car, smiling at her with his head tilted. He pulled his hands out of his pockets and walked quickly towards her.

Anne couldn't help but smile. "I remember you were with me the last time I was here too."

Dorian nodded, a playful grin on his face. "Yeah, I remember. We went for a drink after, and then we were at your old place..."

Anne quickly covered Dorian's mouth with her hand, warning softly, "Don't bring up things better left forgotten."

Dorian gently brushed her hand away, still smiling. "Then what should we remember? Our first time in the car? Or in your company's restroom?"

"Not listening, not talking to you anymore," Anne said, covering her ears and starting to run. But Dorian reached out, pulled her back, and held her close.

His intense breath surrounded her, and his deep, slightly hoarse voice whispered in her ear.

"Thank goodness it wasn't you who got hurt today."

Anne looked at him, feeling a bit nervous.

Her face was already stunning, and at this moment, her brown eyes were captivating. Her thick long hair draped over her back, highlighting her delicate skin. Her petal-like red lips curved lazily, moving a tiny tear mole at the corner of her eye.

This smile was enchanting.

"Anyway, I'm experienced, such a small trick can't hurt me. But I didn't expect Cleo to risk her unborn child.. She really is ruthless."

As Anne spoke, she looked away. Dorian gently cupped her chin, making her face him and look at him.

"Sweetheart, no matter how strong you are, you're carrying our child now. Promise me, if you encounter any danger, you'll tell me immediately."

Dorian spoke seriously, with a bit of sternness. Anne knew he wasn't joking, so she put away her playful demeanor.

"Okay, I promise you."

Her stomach growled. "I'm hungry, no, our babies are hungry."

"Babies?" Dorian looked surprised.

Anne smiled sheepishly. "Didn't Remy tell you? I'm carrying twins."

Dorian was too excited to speak. He tightly held Anne's hand and led her to the car.

"Let's go, what do the babies want to eat? We'll get it."

"The older one wants barbecue, and the younger one wants toasted chicken!" Anne replied.

"Sure, we'll get both."

Anne chuckled. "You believe my nonsense?"
