Chapter 178
When Diana woke up again, three days had already passed.
Lying in the hospital bed, Diana smelled the disinfectant at her nose tip, feeling completely dazed.
Nora saw Diana wake up and got super excited, "You're finally awake! You scared me to death! Let me test your brain first. How many is this..."
Looking at the two fingers in front of her, Diana rolled her eyes, "I just fainted, I didn't become stupid. Put those two fingers back."
Nora patted her chest hard, "You scared me to death! But were you trying to kill yourself? Putting yourself through all that just for one order. It's totally not worth it. Don't do this again next time."
The reason Diana was willing to endure all of Ruby's demands was just to get that order completed smoothly.
For them, orders were important, but their lives were more important.
Hearing the criticism, Diana smiled, then suddenly remembered something and quickly asked, "Who saved me? When I was rolling down the mountain, I felt like someone hugged me and rolled down with me."
Nora looked confused, "Really? I don't know. I came to take care of you after getting a call from the hospital. I don't know anything else, but you can ask other people."
"Okay, after I get better, I must thank them properly. I could feel that when I was rolling down, if someone hadn't hugged me and taken most of the impact, I probably would have died."
Thinking carefully, it was too dark at the time, and she was in a panic, so Diana didn't notice who saved her.
But that person really existed.
Having just woken up, after talking for a while, Diana fell into a deep sleep again.
On the other side, in the VIP ward.
Michael looked at the bandage on his head, his face dark, "Doctor, can't I take off this bandage yet? I'm fine now."
"You're the patient, I'm the doctor. Whether you're fine or not isn't up to you—you need to listen. You were lucky this time. Falling from such a height, your head got scraped but your brain wasn't hurt. You won't be so lucky next time."
The doctor went on and on, his tone full of concern.
As Michael's attending physician, he had treated him for injuries countless times over the years.
Every time was a close call with death.
Now Michael was even bolder, actually going mountain climbing and rolling down from the top.
Fortunately, he was extremely lucky and didn't hit any sharp rocks, or he would have died.
The doctor talked for a while longer, told Joshua to watch Michael, said his head couldn't get wet and he couldn't work, then left.
Finally, some peace and quiet.
After the doctor left, Michael was about to take out his laptop to work.
Joshua quickly stepped forward and took the laptop away, "Don't blame me, this is doctor's orders, and Mrs. Johnson said the same thing."
Facing Michael's intimidating gaze, he was sweating profusely but didn't dare slack off.
Michael laughed coldly, "Fine, I don't have to work, but I want to go see Diana. Go arrange it for me, and don't let anyone see."
Joshua looked helpless.
Every day, he not only had to take care of the injured Michael but also calm down Michael's family.
What was harder was that he also had to arrange Diana's ward, letting Michael visit when others weren't around.
The hospital was full of people coming and going, avoiding everyone was incredibly difficult.
What made it even harder was that Michael stayed there all night every time, only coming back at dawn.
The hospital caregivers were easy to deal with, but he was really worried about running into Nora and the others.
But what could he do? He still had to do it.
Joshua was about to go arrange things when suddenly his phone rang. His eyes lit up, "Good news, Ms. Garcia woke up."
"She's awake?" The corner of Michael's mouth curved into a smile. The next second, his face turned cold, "I'm just being humanitarian. I'm going out, don't disturb my sleep."
Joshua stood there, wanting to say something but stopping himself, "Actually, although I don't know what happened between you two, with a life-saving debt, Ms. Garcia will definitely be grateful to you."
"I need other people's gratitude?" Michael shot him a look, "Get lost."
Joshua quietly and smoothly left.
In another ward, Ruby was also lying in a hospital bed.
Compared to Michael's empty room, her ward was lively and bustling.
Everyone who went mountain climbing that day had gathered here.
"This is so annoying. I thought it was just regular mountain climbing, but I got hurt and have to stay in the hospital. Can't drink, can't smoke. This is worse than being in jail."
"Come on, what are you complaining about? You only have minor scrapes. Look at my leg—minor fracture, I have to stay here for half a month. But what really happened that day? Why did Michael save Diana?"
Thinking about that night, everyone was shocked.
No one expected that the moment Diana rolled down the mountain, Michael appeared from somewhere and held her tightly.
The two of them rolled down together. The whole time, Michael had one hand against Diana's head and the other protecting her waist.
When they found the two of them, Michael even threatened them not to tell anyone about this, or they would face his revenge.
Hearing the discussion around her, Ruby's face grew darker and darker.
"Alright, stop talking about it. It was just helping out. If it were us, Michael would save us too. After all, he's too kind-hearted to just watch someone die."
Sensing something was off, the others quickly agreed.
Soon, everyone changed the topic and started discussing food and fun.
But Ruby remained distracted the whole time.
While hospitalized, she had been going to see Michael from time to time these past few days.
But she never managed to see him.
After having someone investigate, she discovered that every night Michael would have Joshua send Nora and the caregivers away, then go keep Diana company.
A man and woman alone in a room, although Diana was unconscious, who could guarantee nothing happened?
Anger spread in her heart.
Ruby grabbed the bedsheet below, gripping it very hard.
After chatting for a while, everyone left.
Ruby called Violet over, "Now that Diana is in the hospital, how can we make her disappear without anyone knowing?"
Seeing her meaningful look, Violet trembled all over, "You mean...?"
"We're good friends, aren't we? Are you just going to watch me suffer? Don't worry, after it's done, I'll reward you too."
