Chapter 51 Molly is not a bad person

Chapter 51 Molly is not a bad person

Molly’s POV

After closing the door, I pressed my ear against it. It was my office, but sadly, I saw the knob turning and shifted aside as Jace opened the door and stepped out.

“Molly, I will drive you home,” he said to me. My disappointment was as thick as fog, but I couldn’t hear anything more and couldn’t find an excuse to continue eavesdropping, so we left.

Hank was already at home with Roger when I arrived, much to my displeasure. Roger hadn’t showered, so I offered to help.

“Let me help you with your shower, Roger.” There was no time to change because Roger looked tired, and I wanted to get him to bed early.

Unfortunately, the trip did nothing to help with his attitude. It was still as unwelcoming as before, and he yelled, “I don’t need your help. Hank is here.”

Hank stared apologetically at me, but there was always something strange about the way he looked at me. I was relieved when his gaze shifted to Roger.

“Little man, you have to show some respect to Molly,” he chastised.

Roger looked upset. Not even Hank could make the boy like me, and I wondered why. Why did Roger hate me so much?

"Do you like her too?" Roger asked directly. Hank gave me that apologetic look once more, squatting to Roger's height.

"Molly is not a bad person. She's been through a lot, so the least you can do is be nice."

Roger glared at me as if I had taken something valuable from him, remaining adamant in his stance. "

I don't like her, so why do you and daddy force me to be nice to her? You both never told me to be nice to mommy."

I couldn't be upset with his words, seeing it as an opportunity to learn something about his mother, but Hank stared at me. "Sorry, Molly, but trust me, he will change."

Forcing a smile, I took the chance to ask him, "Where is his mother?"

He smiled awkwardly, but I noticed the nervous look in Jace's eyes, making me wonder why Roger's mother's name seemed to be a taboo subject.

At least from Nicole, I knew her name was Octavia, but everything else was still a mystery.

"For questions like that, you have to ask Gio. But why did you stop singing? Your best comeback would be your ability to seek revenge through the very thing that destroyed you."

It was easy for him to say because his face wasn't all over the airwaves. "Thank you for your concern, but let me take care of Roger," I said politely, noticing the disappointed looks in their eyes.

Lately, I've been writing songs but with no intention of publishing them. Maybe one day, I might just sell them.

"You can't come to my room because my pets haven't been fed. Uncle Hank, will you help me?" Roger asked. I was relieved Hank was there, due to my fear of his pets, and I was impressed by Hank's response.

"I know you can take care of it, little man, but I'll be there to guide you in case you miss a spot."

"And I'll make you something special to eat," I added as I headed to the kitchen.

The new staff were very polite, and for some reason, I was starting to appreciate Gianni's decisions and everything he did for me, including firing his previous maids.

It felt like home to have a domestic staff who didn't gossip, mainly because they weren't familiar with each other.

Certainly, things will change eventually, but for now, I will simply enjoy my newfound peace.

Fortunately, the chef was still preparing dinner, so I spoke with him to allow me to prepare Roger's meal, asking him not to inform Roger.

The chef was reluctant at first but eventually agreed. I made sure he served the meal so Roger wouldn't know I had prepared it.

By the time they finished, which took longer than usual, the food was already on the dining table.

"Roger broke a vase in his room. Can you ask the maids to replace it for him?" Hank inquired, and I suspected that was the reason for the delay.

"Yes, I will take care of it," I assured him. When Roger saw the baked spaghetti in front of him, my heart swelled by his words.

"This smells and looks delicious," he remarked as he served himself, and I watched with delight as he finished his plate and even took an extra portion.

It was a pleasant surprise, and it brought me joy. “Call the chef," he instructed one of the maids. I never anticipated him placing another order.

"I want some of this to take to school early in the morning. It should taste just like this," he remarked.

The chef nervously smiled at me. He could make it, but the taste might change.

"Young master, that is madam's special recipe," he explained honestly. Roger shot me a glare as Hank served up some of the baked spaghetti and beef sauce onto his plate.

"It's really good. Molly, you're a great cook," he complimented.

Both Roger and I smiled. However, he didn't request the spaghetti again, indicating his reluctance to accept anything from me.

Two hours passed after dinner before Roger fell asleep. Hank carried him to his room, and upon returning, he smiled at me.

"Molly, I need to ask you something," he began.

Before I could respond, Zak entered, signaling Gianni's arrival. What I didn't expect was to see him drunk and in the company of another.
