Chapter 7 Divorce Agreement
Before they even got through the door, Seraphina heard the noise and was wheeled over in her chair. Her eyes lit up with joy, showing just how much she adored Grace.
As soon as she got close, she reached out and grabbed Grace's hand, her voice brimming with happiness. "Oh, I've been waiting for this moment. Finally, you're here."
The servant next to her quickly chimed in with a smile, "Yes, Mrs. Montague was just complaining about why you hadn't arrived yet with Mrs. Brown, and then the next second you are here."
Aurora Brown was Henry's mom.
Grace squatted down and replied with a smile, "Grandma, I'm here now. I got held up by some things this morning."
Hearing this, Seraphina patted Grace's hand, clearly pleased. "You're still so good, unlike Henry who knows I miss you but keeps making excuses not to bring you to see me."
Henry felt a bit embarrassed. Grace rarely saw him at a loss, and she patted Seraphina's hand with a smile. "Grandma, if you want to see me in the future, just call me. I can come by myself."
Seraphina smiled and nodded, and Grace, not wanting to stick around Henry, said she was going to make some snacks.
After she left, Seraphina looked at Henry standing there, her face turning serious. "Kneel down!"
Henry was confused for a moment.
Seraphina picked up the cane next to her and hit him with it. "Henry, you've really grown bold, haven't you? You dared to go out on Grace's birthday and your wedding anniversary, setting off fireworks with Elodie? Taking care of your life-saver is one thing; you're really not afraid Grace will divorce you."
"When she wants to divorce, you won't be able to get her back even if you beg!" She continued. "Grace is very sensitive, you should take good care of her."
Henry listened, feeling a bit troubled. He already had guesses about who leaked the fireworks show.
He could only respond half-heartedly.
After a while, Grace brought the snacks she made and placed them in front of Seraphina.
Henry glanced at Grace. Despite her time in the kitchen, her dress remained immaculate. Perhaps it was this effortless grace that held Henry back from contemplating divorce.
Seraphina enjoyed the snacks very much. "Grace is really good at cooking, no other chef can make this taste."
She turned to Henry. "Grace, if Henry ever mistreats you, I'll stand up for you. I'll beat this bastard."
Grace agreed with a smile, but her heart was full of bitterness.
Seraphina's consideration touched her deeply, making her hesitate to cut ties with the family, but she knew deep down this loveless marriage would inevitably come to an end
Henry was responding half-heartedly, considering Seraphina's health. They stayed at the Montague Mansion for the afternoon. After dinner, it was very late. They said goodbye to Seraphina.
It was Aurora who saw them off.
Aurora looked at Henry with a cold expression and said, "Henry, you need to know your limits."
She was also very cold towards Grace, she just didn't want the Montague family to be disgraced.
Outside the villa, in the car, the dim light fell on Grace's slightly tired face. The atmosphere became heavy when there were only the two of them again.
Henry spoke, "How can you stop this farce?"
Grace laughed self-deprecatingly, even now, he still thought she wanted to gain something from him.
She just replied, "I want a divorce."
Henry had rushed back in the morning because of the cake, and after the afternoon's ordeal, he was physically and mentally exhausted. He gripped the steering wheel, and pinched his brow, very irritated.
"Grace, you just want more benefits. You worked so hard to become my wife, and now you say you don't want it. Don't you think it's funny?"
Grace felt only coldness in her heart. She turned her head and looked at him seriously. "Henry, do you like me?"
Henry was taken aback for a moment, but he didn't want to lie to keep her. "No."
"Since you don't like me, let's just end this peacefully. It was my mistake from the start to get involved with you, but now I want out. I'm really tired, and I don't want to drag this out any longer. Our marriage doesn't make any sense," she said, all in one breath.
Henry fell into deep thought, not answering, and Grace turned her head, the two of them silent.
After a while, they arrived at their home.
Before Henry could say anything, Grace got out of the car and walked towards the entrance alone. Henry watched Grace's back, took out a cigarette from the car, and lit it.
When did Grace become like this? Was it because of that night?
In the smoke, Henry thought a lot. He took out the ring Celeste had given him in the afternoon. Opening the box, he looked at the wedding ring that matched the one on his own ring finger.
His mind was a mess.
That night, the two of them didn't speak. Grace slept on the sofa in the room, while Henry watched Grace's small back, gradually falling asleep.
He was a bit unaccustomed. Every time he woke up in the middle of the night, he felt the emptiness beside him, reaching out but not finding Grace.
Before, Grace always slept holding him, sometimes like a little rabbit burrowing into his arms, unable to be driven away. But now, she avoided him.
He was angry, but he didn't want to lose face by coaxing her.
In the morning, the first ray of sunlight shone on his bed. He raised his hand to block it and woke up.
"Grace, help me prepare my suit. I have a meeting today," he said, still half-asleep. But after a long time without a response, he slowly sat up, not seeing her figure.
He got out of bed, passed by her dressing table, and his eyes swept over, finding a file left on it.
A bad feeling arose in his mind.
He turned his head, opened the closet, and found that Grace's clothes were gone. Only the jewelry that had been unlocked from the password lock was still neatly placed, untouched.
He took the file, opened it, and took out the documents inside. The words on it struck his heart—it was a divorce agreement.
He read it and saw that Grace wasn't asking for anything, and at the end, she had already signed it.
Henry looked at the document in his hand, sneered, and went to the balcony, looking at Grace who was about to get into a taxi. She seemed to feel his gaze, turned her head, and their eyes met.
Making sure she was looking in his direction, Henry scattered the document that only needed his signature to take effect. For a moment, the scattered documents fell like rain.
Grace didn't say anything, just turned and got into the taxi, driving away. During this time, she didn't look back at him once.
Henry quietly watched the taxi gradually disappear from his sight. He didn't care about it, just dressed, washed, and put on his watch, but in the end, he couldn't find the cufflink he was looking for.
He subconsciously wanted to call Grace to help him find it, but the words got stuck in his mouth.
Grace was gone.
Feeling irritated, he went to the dining table, looking at the coffee and toast, but without the heart-shaped fried egg she made, he lost his appetite.
In the past, breakfast was prepared by the servants, but Grace was afraid he wouldn't get enough nutrition, so she always made a heart-shaped fried egg herself and insisted he eat it before leaving.
At that time, she still loved him.
Ignoring this, he just took out his phone and received a message about him.

Henry looked at it, rubbing his forehead, feeling a nameless fire about to erupt in his heart.
