Chapter 35 Divorce Agreement Under the Fireworks
At this moment, there was a knock on the door. "Ms. Windsor, a Mr. Fitzwilliam outside the hospital has a message for you. He asked you to look outside the window."
Henry frowned and glanced out the window. In the silent night, a burst of fireworks shot up into the sky with a bang, illuminating the entire night.
It was like a beautiful painting, colorful and very beautiful.
Grace felt a sense of surprise, and her eyes lit up again.
She realized what Lucas's belated birthday gift was.
She suddenly felt a bit emotional. On her birthday, Henry went to Elodie to watch fireworks, and now someone else lit fireworks just for her to make her happy.
Henry looked at Grace, her eyes filled with stars, and under the reflection of the fireworks, she looked exceptionally beautiful.
Her gaze was very gentle, the same look she had when they got married.
But this look belonged to another man.
A single firework could make her so happy.
In comparison, how ridiculous his cake seemed.
So, she didn't like him anymore and turned to like Lucas?
He looked at Grace's beautiful profile and suddenly sneered.
He suddenly didn't want to let her go.
Wasn't she smiling so happily?
He picked up the file bag on the cake beside him and tore it in half, turning it into a piece of waste paper.
Grace heard the sound of paper tearing and remembered that Henry was still beside her.
The doctor's words just now, he must have heard them too.
As she turned her head, she saw Henry's gloomy eyes, looking at her with a mocking smile.
Henry stood up and gently caressed Grace's cheek, as if looking at a precious treasure. "Were the fireworks that Lucas set off beautiful?"
He stared at her. "Do you like him?"
Grace lowered her head. "No!"
Henry still smiled faintly, his body leaning down, pressing close to hers, his breath warm on her ear. "I'm just asking, why are you so nervous?"
He gently pinched her chin. "I know you wouldn't do anything to betray me, otherwise, I don't know what I might do. If I hurt you, do you think Lucas would be sad?"
Grace didn't understand what he meant. "What do you want?"
Under the fireworks, in the dim room, Henry waved the doctor away.
His voice was very hoarse. "I missed your birthday, but now I've prepared a cake for you. How about we celebrate your birthday now with the fireworks?"
Grace saw the ruthlessness in his eyes.
He reached out and pressed her onto the bed, gently using her thin hospital gown to cover her injured arm, preventing her from hurting herself.
In the dim room, their breaths intertwined.
Grace looked at him warily. "Henry, even if we're celebrating my birthday, there's no need to take off clothes, right?"
Henry leaned over her, his gaze sweeping over her body with heat. He whispered in her ear. "Didn't you always want to strip naked for me to enjoy on your birthdays?"
His lips curled into a mocking smile, a hint of desire in his eyes. "I really want you to know how wanton you used to be."
He slowly scanned her body, as if admiring a treasure that belonged only to him.
He wanted to hide his treasure, not letting anyone else discover it, especially Lucas.
Grace felt extremely ashamed, but the sensitivity of her body still made her delicate face blush. She wanted to cover herself with the blanket to avoid his gaze.
He looked at her shy expression and took the torn file bag, placing it in front of her.
He whispered intimately in her ear. "Grace, didn't you really want a divorce? But you missed that chance."
Grace was a bit confused.
Henry pinched her chin, smiling mockingly. "I won't divorce you! If you want to end it all, you can try. What I can't have, Lucas can't have either."
Grace was puzzled, staring into Henry's deep eyes, and with his words, a thought flashed through her mind.
She quickly picked up the file bag in front of her, opened it, and pieced the torn paper together, finally seeing a line of words.
[Divorce Agreement!]
Grace was momentarily stunned, her hand holding the document trembling uncontrollably.
At the signature line, Henry's handwriting was already there.
So, as long as she signed, she could divorce Henry?
But why was the document torn?
She stared blankly at Henry, but all she saw in his deep eyes was mockery and the brilliant fireworks outside the window.
In an instant, she understood everything.
It turned out that just now, because of a firework, all of Henry's pity for her was completely wiped away.
A sense of helplessness surged in her heart. She didn't know how to look him.
She stared at the torn document, her expression slightly collapsing. "I can give up everything, as long as you let me go."
Henry looked at her humble and pleading appearance. Freedom was so desirable to her.
But this time, he didn't soften. He was just waiting for Grace to calm down.
After all, what he needed was a wife who didn't act emotionally, someone who only needed to satisfy his sexual needs.
As for the cost? There was nothing that couldn't be measured by benefits.
He could help her become Gavin's student, help Oliver find a lawyer.
His eyes grew colder.
He thought, if today's fireworks were set off by Felix or someone else, maybe he would let it go.
But the worst part was, it was Lucas.
