Chapter 806: You Agree, Right?

Paul saw that she wasn't speaking and waited for a minute before he spoke again, his tone reverting to its usual nonchalant manner.

"If you don't want to, it's fine. Just pretend I never said anything. We'll still be good drinking buddies." With that, Paul raised his glass to toast Christina.

Christina gave him a complicated look. "Give me two days to think about it."

Paul's eyes lit up slightly. "Okay."

"Miss Mitchell." Preston approached, slightly out of breath and holding a piece of cake. "What are you doing here?"

Christina's expression returned to normal as she explained, "I was really hungry and happened to run into a friend, so we decided to eat here."

"It's my fault," Preston said guiltily, "I ran into an old acquaintance and got delayed. Otherwise, I would have found you sooner."

Christina replied, "It's okay. I've had enough to eat."

"Alright." Preston then turned his attention to Paul.

Christina looked at Preston and then at Paul. 'Do I really need to introduce them?'

Paul didn't even glance at Preston. He slowly sipped his wine, exuding an air of nobility and elegance. With his looks and demeanor, he seemed like a nobleman.

Standing next to each other, Christina noticed a stark contrast between Paul and Preston. Paul was dazzlingly handsome, while Preston could hardly be considered good-looking. Even though Paul didn't look at Preston, Christina could sense the tension between them. She couldn't eat any more of the remaining food.

"I'm full," Christina said as she stood up. Then she turned to Paul and said, "I'm going back to the banquet hall with Mr. Thomas."

Paul smiled at her. "Alright." That smile almost made Christina unable to look away. She admitted to herself that she had a feeling for handsome guys.

"Let's go," Preston said, reaching for Christina's hand. As soon as he touched her hand, Christina subtly pulled away.

"Let's go," Christina said, turning and heading towards the banquet hall. Preston hesitated for a moment and then followed her.

Paul propped his chin on his hand, deep in thought. 'What if Christina doesn't agree?'

"Miss Mitchell, may I have this dance?" Preston asked, extending his hand like a gentleman.

"Sorry, I don't know how to dance," Christina said, embarrassed.

Preston's eyes showed a hint of disappointment. "Then let's go over there. I have some friends I'd like you to meet."

"Alright." Christina nodded.

Around ten o'clock, Christina started to feel tired. Preston noticed and leaned in to ask softly, "Do you want to go home?" Christina nodded.

"Wait for me a moment." Preston turned back to say goodbye to his friends.

Christina overheard one of them mentioning her. "Next time, bring your date along. Tonight's event wasn't much fun," the person said, looking over at her. Christina could only smile in response.

Preston said, "We'll see about her schedule. She's a doctor and usually very busy."

The person persisted, addressing Christina, "Miss Mitchell, we're having a gathering the day after tomorrow. Why don't you come with Preston?"

Christina smiled and said, "I can't promise anything right now. I'll only know if I'm free on that day. I'm sorry, but sometimes there are emergencies at the hospital, and I can't leave my post." Her serious tone made it difficult for the person to press further.

As Christina and Preston left and reached the parking lot, Preston apologized, "I'm sorry my friend put you on the spot."

"It's fine. I didn't mind. He just doesn't understand the nature of my job." Christina said.

"I'll drive you home," Preston said.

"I'll take her home," Paul suddenly appeared and pulled Christina over.

"You're out of the way," he said, raising an eyebrow at Preston.

Preston clenched his fists, suppressing his anger. "Miss Mitchell is my date. I should take her home."

Paul rolled his eyes. "I told you, you're out of the way."

Christina looked at Paul in surprise. 'Am I being overly sensitive, or does it seem like Paul is jealous? No, it must be my imagination.'

"Paul, stop messing around," Christina said.

"I'm not messing around. He lives on the west side, and you live on the east side. Do you really want him to go out of his way to take you home?" Paul said with a playful smile, "I live right next door to you, so it's more convenient for me to take you home."

"You've been drinking," Christina said, exasperated.

"I have a driver." With that, he pulled Christina away without giving her a chance to refuse.

"Miss Mitchell," Preston said anxiously, grabbing Christina's other hand.

Two men, one on each side, holding onto a woman. Christina remained silent. This was straight out of a TV drama.

"Mr. Thomas, it's late. You don't need to trouble yourself. Paul and I are friends, and we live in the same place. It's more convenient for him to take me home," Christina said decisively, without a hint of hesitation.

Since she had said that, Preston would look bad if he insisted. "Be careful on the way. Call me if you need anything," he said, giving Paul a meaningful look.

"Alright, Mr. Thomas. Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

Preston watched helplessly as Paul took Christina away and their car drove off. The warmth in his eyes gradually faded.

In the car, they sat in the back seat, and Christina could smell the faint scent of alcohol on Paul. Paul must have had quite a bit to drink. He seemed a little tipsy.

"Are you okay?" Christina asked, seeing him slouched in his seat.

Paul responded with a muffled sound.

Christina remained silent, and Paul didn't say anything either. Christina yawned, and suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder as Paul's head leaned against her.

"Paul," Christina gently pushed him.

Paul said in a hoarse voice, "Let me lean on you for a bit. I have a headache."

"If you have a headache, you should drink less," Christina frowned. 'Isn't this guy supposed to be a heavy drinker?'

Paul shifted to find a more comfortable position on her shoulder.

Christina remained silent.

"Let me massage it for you," Christina's professional instincts kicked in.

Paul said, "Okay."

"Lie down on my lap."

"Okay."

Paul obediently lay down on Christina's lap, and she began to massage his head with just the right amount of pressure.

Paul was so comfortable he almost started to hum. "I didn't know you had this skill."

"My dad often had headaches, so I learned a massage technique from the doctors at our hospital."

"Do you agree with the marriage proposal I mentioned?" Paul said.

"Didn't you say you'd give me two days to think about it?" Christina countered.

Paul lightly scratched her knee with his finger. "Agree to it. You'll get to see a handsome guy every day when you come home. It'll definitely put you in a good mood."

A tingling sensation spread from her knee.

Listening to his soft voice, Christina almost gave in. "Let me think it over."

Paul closed his eyes and sighed, "You smell like my mom."

Christina's expression froze, and her hand paused. Two seconds later, she slapped Paul on the head and pushed him off her lap. "Get up and move over."
