CHAPTER SIXTY ONE

I groaned slightly as I tried to get up from the bed. I didn't want anyone to see me in this state for fear of them calling the ambulance or taking me to the hospital.
I had had enough of hospitals for a while.
An ailment or sickness was not the cause of my body's condition, it was more mental or supernatural. My recent encounters with supernatural forces were taking a toll on me.
I made it out of bed without making too much noise, and I proceeded to the bathroom. I filled the tub with cold water, and I put one foot in it.
"Cold." I shrieked in a low voice, and I withdrew my leg immediately.
The water was fucking cold, and my hot body was not making it any better.
I gritted my teeth, disrobed, and forced my body into the tub of cold water.
After shivering for a while, my body cooled down, and I relaxed inside the water. I practiced my breathing exercises, and everything was going back to normal.
I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep in the tub.
Just for a few minutes, I told myself, but the minutes turned to hours, and the hours turned to another day.
I had slept throughout the remainder of the night in the tub of cold water.
I got up just as the sun broke through the sky, the cold water had turned warm, but my body temperature had cooled down. I got out of the tube, put on my clothes, and went back to bed.
I was thankful that I had not drowned throughout the night.
The rest of the day went smoothly, my mother woke me up a few hours later with breakfast in bed.
I enjoyed the meal, it was waffles and fruit salad.
She left for work, which was actually her way of saying she was going to spend the day with Elric, and Lex left soon after to hang out with the team.
I was left at home alone to rest.
I picked up the journal again, and I flipped the page.
It was weird because I couldn't read the remaining entry. It was written in another language, and there was only one English phrase written on the entire page.
'To read is to see.'
But that made no sense to me.
I closed the journal and returned it to my drawer, later I would find a way to decode or interpret whatever code or language was written there.
A knock on the door drew me out of my thoughts.
I made my way to the door, and I opened it, it was Axle at the door.
He was not alone, he was with the girl I had seen at dinner, the girl from my dreams.

After dinner, Mina asked me to help her with some alone time with Lex. I quickly devised a plan, and Elric let the three of us off.
I left the two of them to enjoy themselves, and I took to the woods. Hans kept howling like he was in pain and he was giving me a headache. I wanted to shift and run, but I knew that it was not allowed, I had to wait for the full moon before I shifted.
This full moon was important because it would be my first shift after I turned eighteen and also Mina's first shift.
"She'll be fine." Reyah materialized beside me.
"I know," I said and picked up a rock.
"You shouldn't fight the feeling you have for her." She spoke, and I ignored her.
She couldn't understand anyway, her one mission was to find her remaining family and recover the memories from her family's past, and she had accomplished that. I didn't even have any living family left, I only had the pack, and it was up to me to defeat Emil and reunite the wolves.
"Don't worry too much about that either." She said,
She had read my mind or had sensed what I was feeling.
Damn weirdo.
"You can't tell me not to worry about that, I do worry, and Lexi is not my mate. I shouldn't be feeling this way towards her." I said and threw the rock in my hand.
"To know is to remember." She said and patted me on the shoulder.
"What do you mea—" I asked no one because she had disappeared.
I sighed loudly.
Why was everyone adamant that I remember?
I had gotten bits and pieces of my memory, but they were still scattered because they were from the dream or vision that I had, I was still yet to unblock my true memories.
Too much thinking had made me tired, and I wanted to rest. I gave Mina a call and told her that I had gone home, she would have to sneak in when she got home.
I had a peaceful night's sleep despite my evening worries.
I woke up a bit late, and I stretched, it was Saturday, meaning I had already missed practice.
I took my bath and changed my clothes. I did not have much to do, but I wanted to get breakfast and maybe go by Lanny's to flirt with her cousin or any lucky waitress.
"What are you doing here?" I asked immediately when I opened the door, I was standing face-to-face with the green-eyed witch.
"Lexi summoned me yesterday." Reyah said and entered the room.
"What!" I asked open-mouthed, I did not know what that meant.
"Sit down." She ordered, and magically, my door closed.
"She summoned me to her dreams, she's awakening her powers. She'll need guidance. I need to get to her immediately."
"No way, no, no, no, Lexi is too fragile, she'll freak out again, she'll have another panic attack again." I was worried.
I still thought it was too early for her to meet Lexi.
"She'll keep getting worse if she doesn't learn to control her powers, it will kill her." She said, and I stared at her in alarm.
"What kind of power kills the owner?" I asked.
"The kind she wields, if left unchecked, the power will kill her," Reyah explained.
"We have to get to her then," I said and hurriedly grabbed my car keys.
"We don't need that." She said,
"Why?" I asked.
"Too slow." She said and snapped her fingers.
In the next second, we were transported to the front of Lexi's house.
When the green smoke cleared, I stared at Reyah.
"So you could do this all this while?"
