Chapter 69: Discussion

While Zack was busy in a meeting at his office, the employees were shocked when Vanessa suddenly entered, walking confidently and full of poise. The guards didn’t stop her because she carried the weight of her past relationship with Zack.

Unbeknownst to Zack, Amy was also in the office, bringing lunch for him, and was surprised to see Vanessa in the reception area—especially when Vanessa, as if she had every right, casually sat in Zack’s office.

"Amy," Vanessa greeted, her voice calm but laced with mockery. "I didn’t expect to see you here. What a coincidence."

But Amy didn’t respond. Instead, she slowly walked closer, holding herself back. Yet, each step she took was filled with anger and memories of the past.

"Vanessa," she said coldly. "I thought you were done. What are you doing here?"

Vanessa smiled, her face showing no trace of remorse.

"Relax, Amy. I’m just here to talk to Zack. We have unfinished business."

"Unfinished business?" Amy replied, shaking her head as she let out a bitter laugh. "Like your never-ending attempts to ruin us? Vanessa, why don’t you just stop? You have no right to bother us anymore."

Vanessa stepped closer to Amy, but Amy didn’t flinch. "You think you’ve won, don’t you? You think Zack will always be yours? Don’t be so naive, Amy."

And at that moment, Amy’s anger exploded. A loud slap landed on Vanessa’s cheek, making her stagger slightly.

"That’s for my child!" Amy yelled, her voice trembling with rage. "Our child you didn’t allow to live. Do you even know that until now, I can’t forget the pain of losing our first child because of you?"

Vanessa’s eyes widened, as if she didn’t expect Amy’s boldness.

"Wasn’t that enough, Vanessa?" Amy continued, her words blazing with fury. "You tried to kill me! You tried to take my life because you couldn’t accept that Zack had left you. And now, here you are again, trying to disrupt us. What kind of person are you?"

Vanessa couldn’t speak right away, but she tried to maintain her composure. "Amy, you don’t know everything that happened. I did that because I love Zack!"

"Love?!" Amy interjected, laughing bitterly as tears fell.

"Love doesn’t ruin other people’s lives, Vanessa. It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t kill! What you did wasn’t love—it was selfishness!"

At that moment, the office door opened, and Zack entered. He was shocked to see the tension between Amy and Vanessa.

"Amy? Vanessa? What’s going on here?" Zack asked, clearly anxious.

Amy walked toward Zack, her eyes full of anger and pain.

"Zack, do you know why I can’t sleep well at night? Because of this person!" She pointed at Vanessa. "This person is the reason we lost our first child. This person almost killed me before. And now, she’s still trying to destroy us!"

Zack went silent, Amy’s words felt like a knife to his chest. He knew it was all true, but he hadn’t expected to face the past again.

"Vanessa." Zack said, his voice cold and filled with anger.

"Leave now. You have no right to face us, especially Amy."

But Vanessa just smiled. "Fine. But remember this, Zack—this isn’t over. One day, you’ll realize that I’m the one who’s right for you."

Before leaving, Vanessa looked at Amy and spoke in a malicious tone. "Amy, you may have Zack now, but scars like ours never truly heal. Let’s see how far you can go."

After Vanessa left, Zack hugged Amy tightly. "Amy, I’m so sorry. I didn’t expect her to come back. I won’t let you get hurt again, I promise."

But Amy shook her head, holding her chest, still filled with pain. "Zack, this isn’t just about her. It’s about us. You need to prove to me that this won’t happen again."

"And I will, Amy." Zack replied, full of determination. "We’ll start over, and I’ll make sure you won’t be hurt again."

At that point, they both knew their journey was far from over, but they were determined to face it—together, against

whatever challenges would come.

After the tense incident in the office, Amy couldn’t stop thinking about Vanessa’s words. That night, while they were at home. she sat quietly in the living room, deep in thought. Zack walked up to her, holding a cup of hot chocolate.

"Amy, I know you’re still hurt," Zack said as he sat beside her. "But I want you to know that I’m willing to do everything to regain your trust."

Amy looked at him, her eyes filled with pain and doubt. "Zack, this isn’t just about trust. It’s about everything that has happened to us. I don’t know if I can anymore."

Zack took her hand, but didn’t pull her towards him. He was showing respect for Amy’s space. "My love, my words mean nothing if I don’t prove them to you. So trust me—I won’t let you be hurt again, not you or our children."

Amy remained silent, trying to fight her emotions. But before she could speak, Quen, her OB-GYN and a close family friend, arrived.

"Sorry if I’m visiting so late," Quen said as she entered the living room. "But I just want to make sure you’re okay, Amy. I heard something happened in Zack’s office earlier."

Zack and Amy looked at each other. They knew that Quen wouldn’t let the conversation go easily.

"Amy, I won’t force you, but you also need to think about yourself and the well-being of your children. If something needs to be cleared up, you need to talk about it properly.

Don’t let anger or fear take control."

Amy took a deep breath and looked at Quen. "I know, Quen. But it’s not easy to forget all the pain caused by the past. Vanessa, what she did, it wasn’t just a wound—it’s like poison that’s destroying what we have."

Quen nodded. "And that’s where Zack comes in. He’s the one who needs to heal those wounds."

Zack stood up and walked towards Amy. "Amy, let me start over. Let me prove to you that I can erase the memories of the pain and fear that Vanessa caused. I’m ready to face everything, no matter how hard, as long as I’m by your side."

The room filled with silence. Amy knew Zack’s words were true, but the doubts in her heart still couldn’t be shaken.

"Zack," she said softly. "I need time. I need time to think. I don’t want to rush this because I don’t want to make the same mistake again."

Zack nodded, even though it was clear he was hurt by what Amy said. "I understand. And while you’re giving me time, I’ll do everything to show you that I’m the man who deserves you. I won’t give up, Amy. I love you so much."

Amy stared at him but didn’t say anything. Instead, she stood up and went upstairs to their bedroom, leaving Zack and

Quen in the living room.

While Zack was alone in the living room, he decided to act. He took his cellphone and called his private investigator. "I want you to monitor Vanessa’s every move. I don’t want anything bad happening to Amy or our kids because of her. Follow her,

and make sure she doesn’t get close to my family again."

Meanwhile, in Amy’s bedroom, she lay quietly on the bed. Staring at the ceiling, memories of losing their first child and the fear caused by Vanessa’s presence came flooding back. But behind all the pain, there was still a faint hope that maybe they could rebuild their family.

As the night deepened, both Zack and Amy were lost in thought, wondering how they could correct the mistakes of the past and how they could prove to each other that their love was stronger than any challenge.
