Maya
As soon as I get home, I feel a sense of relief about the baby. Everything went smoothly at my doctor’s appointment. The baby and I are both in good health. I am only eight weeks pregnant, but everything is looking good. We scheduled the twelve-week scan appointment. Conrad also booked another appointment in a few weeks to ensure everything is fine.
“Angel, do you feel better now?” Conrad asks, sitting next to me on the sofa and taking my hand.
“Yes, much. I’m relieved that everything is fine.” I smile and rest my head on his shoulder.
“We knew it would be. And in four weeks, we will get to see our baby.” He beams.
He raises my top and kisses my stomach. My skin tingles and I can’t help but giggle.
“I’m so excited to meet our little one. Once the scan is done, we can start purchasing some baby items, although not all of them. I prefer to wait until the second scan for that.” I say and run my fingers into his hair.
He pulls away and puts my shirt back down.
“Yes, I can’t wait to start shopping. When do you want to tell everyone else?”
“Once the twelve-week scan is done. We can share the news then. Is that okay?”
“Yes, of course it is, beautiful.” He smiles.
Although I’m aware that everything is fine, I’m hesitant to jinx it in any manner. I couldn’t handle the pain of losing our baby. After all the trauma me and my body has been through, I still have doubts that my body is a safe place for a baby to grow. I hate to admit it, but I can’t help being paranoid. I believe I will have worries until the baby is delivered and safely in my arms.
“Everything is going to be okay, right?” I whisper.
“Yes. Don’t worry, my love, everything will be alright.” he smiles and kisses me softly.
I should stop obsessing over every little thing. I want to enjoy my pregnancy, well, as much as one can. At the moment, I’m only dealing with fatigue and morning sickness, but I may experience more symptoms as the pregnancy continues.
“I’m really excited for when I finally get a bump.” I coo.
“You’ll be incredibly beautiful with one. I can’t wait to see your belly grow as our little peanut grows inside.”
“Are you ready for the mood swings, the four a.m. cravings and everything else to come?” I laugh.
“Hell yeah. I am ready for it all! I’ll be by your side, angel, through every step.”
I have complete trust in his words. He is going to be incredible, even if I act like a bitch because of my hormones.
I kiss his cheek, “Thank you. You are the most amazing husband anyone could ask for.”
I am a lucky woman. One who has the best man in the world.
“So, I have a surprise for you. The intention was for it to be a wedding gift from me, but things didn’t go according to plan. I knew that you were also worried about the little one. Now, we know everything is okay, and I got the last of the details sorted. I can share it with you.”
I give Conrad a questioning look. “What have you done? You have given me enough. Why are you giving me more?”
“I do it because I can, and because I love you,” he smirks.
I tried to protest, but he silenced me by kissing me. Everything is quickly forgotten, and I let out a soft moan. He laughs and retreats.
“Are you up for a road trip? Only a short one?”
I have no idea what he means. There is one way to find out, “Yes, I am up for it.”
“Yay!” he celebrates and jumps to his feet.
I giggle at his excitement. He extends his hand, and I accept it. He assists me in getting up and draws me near, taking a kiss before we depart to wherever his destination may be. He appears enthusiastic about whatever it is. I have no doubt that it will be amazing. I don’t know what else he could give me. He has given me the entire world already.

I stand in the middle of a massive living room in a mansion! A mansion! It’s not someone else’s, it’s ours! Conrad bought us it! This is enormous. This place has it all - multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, swimming pools, ample land, a home cinema, hot tubs, a gym, and the most stunning decor I’ve ever seen. The place has left me completely amazed!
“Maya, are you alright? You’ve hardly spoken since we got here.”
His voice reveals his nervousness. My silence is due to the fact that I’m in shock as well. I shift my position to face him.
“I’m doing better than okay. Conrad, this place is absolutely incredible. I can’t believe you bought this for us. It is so beautiful.” I say, tears rolling down my cheeks.
“You’re not angry with me?” he asks as he wipes them away.
I shake my head, “No. I am not mad. When did you first learn about this place?”
“I’ve been on the hunt for a while, but none of the places I looked at felt right until now. I could see us and our kids staying here. Although someone else was also interested, I got the news a few days ago that I won the bid. I picked the keys up this morning when I went out to get us breakfast. You like it?”
I fling my arms around his neck. “I love it. You are the best.” I gush and kiss all over his face.
“I’m thrilled that you love it. Are you ready to call this place home for the rest of our life? Watch our kids grow and eventually our grandkids?” he smiles and caresses my cheek.
“Yes! Yes, to it all. It is perfect. You are perfect. Conrad, I have so much love for you. You’ve completely changed my life, and my only wish is to spend the rest of our lives here.”
“I love you too. I made a promise to give you everything and protect you. I meant it. I want to make up for the bad you’ve had in your life. I’m prepared for our life together, my angel.”
“Conrad, I hope you realize that you saved me. You are my real-life hero.”
“My love, I believe we rescued one another. Sweetheart, I am proud to be your hero. You will never have to worry about anything ever again.” He replies and kisses my forehead.
I snuggle into his chest while he embraces me tightly.
“I know everything will be okay because you are here. Our little ones will be lucky as well.”
“Sweetheart, it’s just us against the world. Forever and always.”
Conrad’s arrival in my life brought about a permanent change from day one. I didn’t fully comprehend the impact he would have on my life at that time. I always believed I would be broken and alone. I’ve never experienced such love, care, and protection before. Conrad is the reason for it all. He means everything to me, and I can’t imagine my life without him. He makes all the bad disappear. He is not only my safe place but my happy place, too. He always will be. Everything will be fine, as long as we stick together.
