Chapter 73 Not Anymore
Lucas's POV
I stormed out of Anna’s room, slamming the door so hard the frame rattled.
My blood was boiling, my chest tight with rage and humiliation. I could still feel the sting of her rejection, the way she pushed me away like I was nothing.
I went straight to my room, breathing hard, fists clenched at my sides. I paced like a caged animal, replaying her words in my head.
This can never work out. The bitch had the nerve to say that after everything I’d done for her.
The door opened quietly behind me. Eve slipped in, closing it softly. One look at my face and she sighed.
“I know it’s Anna,” she said, walking closer. "I heard noises from her room and saw you coming out."
I didn't answer her, I didn't have to.
“Forget about her, Lucas," she continued. "Just embrace what we have. I’m right here. I can be yours like it used to be."
I let out a bitter laugh. “You’re the reason she’s pulling away even more. Why the fuck did you tell her we had sex? I specifically told you not to say anything!”
Eve flinched but quickly composed herself. “I was trying to help you. She needed to see what kind of man you really are.”
“Help?” I snarled. “You’ve made everything worse. I love Anna in a way I have never loved you… and I never will. So shut the fuck up and get out of my room."
For a moment, pain flashed across Eve’s face. She looked down, swallowing hard. But when she lifted her head again, the vulnerability was gone, replaced by cold calculation.
“Anna will never choose you as long as Xavier is in the equation,” she said flatly. “You know that.”
I didn’t answer. Because deep down, I did know it.
Eve stepped closer, her voice dropping to a seductive whisper. “So why don’t you take that option away from her? Take her away from Xavier. With time, she’ll forget about him and focus only on you.”
I stared at her. “Are you suggesting I kidnap Anna?”
“Yes,” she replied without hesitation. “It’s the only way.”
“No,” I snapped immediately. “That’s insane. Xavier will tear this city apart looking for her.”
Eve kept pushing. “You’re smarter than him. You can hide her somewhere safe. Make her yours.”
I shook my head, but her next words broke something inside me.
“Soon she’ll get pregnant for Xavier,” Eve said softly. “You really want to watch her belly grow with his child? Watch her become completely his?”
The image hit me like a bullet. Rage and desperation flooded my veins. My hands trembled. “Fine,” I growled. “I’ll do it. I’ll kidnap her.”
Eve’s eyes lit up. “I’ll help you.”
I nodded, mind already racing. “I’ll drug her tonight. But I can’t leave the mansion. I’m in charge while Xavier is away. He’ll suspect me immediately if I disappear with her.”
“Then I’ll take her,” Eve said smoothly. “Tell me the location. I’ll drive her there after she’s unconscious.”
I gave her the address of an old safe house on the outskirts, a place even Xavier didn’t know about. Eve memorized it quickly.
I walked to my wardrobe, pulled out a small vial of fast-acting sedative, and slipped it into my pocket. “Wish me luck.”
"Make it fast," Eve said. "We don't have enough time."
I returned to Anna’s room and knocked. She opened the door almost immediately. "What do you want?" she asked.
"I want to talk," I responded.
She opened the door wider and I went in. Then she sat on the edge of her bed, looking drained.
“Anna…” I said softly, stepping inside. “I’m sorry about earlier. I lost control. I didn’t mean to destroy your things.”
She looked up at me, surprisingly understanding. “It’s okay, Lucas. I know you’re hurting.”
Her gentleness only made the guilt sharper, but I pushed it down.
I poured two glasses of wine from the bottle on her table, discreetly adding the drug to hers while my back was turned.
I handed her the glass. “Peace offering?”
She took it with a small smile and drank. We talked for a few minutes, meaningless words to buy time. I watched her closely as she sipped.
It didn’t take long.
Her eyelids grew heavy. She blinked slowly, swaying slightly. “I feel… dizzy…”
“Rest,” I whispered, taking the glass from her hand before it fell.
Anna tried to speak again but couldn’t. Her body slumped back onto the bed.
I caught her gently and laid her down properly, brushing hair from her face. She was completely out.
I stared at her peaceful sleeping face, my heart twisting with a toxic mix of love, obsession, and triumph.
“You’re mine now, Anna,” I murmured. “Xavier will never have you again.”
I stepped out and found Eve waiting in the hallway. “She’s ready,” I said.
Eve smiled darkly. “I’ll take care of her. Don’t worry.”
As she slipped into Anna’s room to prepare her for transport, I stood guard, pulse racing.
This was betrayal. This was madness. But I no longer cared.
