Chapter 170 Chapter 170
“Have you seen him? Is he handsome?” Tania fired off the questions. “What does he look like? Is he as good-looking as Prince Charming? Does he have that... ‘wow’ factor?”
Caroline pondered carefully, choosing her words to maximize impact.
“He's... very handsome. And his physique is also impeccable, military. As for whether he's as good as Nicholas...”
She leaned over the table and teased, “I'd say he's as good as your old crush... Daniel Wolf.”
Tania froze.
She had seen Daniel Wolf on television and in magazines. He was her ideal of an unattainable man.
“As good as Daniel Wolf?” Tania's expression became deadly serious. “Carol, this is serious business. Are you sure? You're not lying to me? Is he really that good?”
Caroline nodded, keeping a straight face. “Um, I'm absolutely sure.”
How could she not be sure? She was talking about Daniel Wolf himself!
Caroline wondered how Tania would react if she found out the truth. Or worse: if she actually met Daniel in person.
Would Tania be able to maintain her chatty, silly personality in front of him?
Daniel was the opposite of Nicholas. While Nicholas was cold but passionate, Daniel was a wall of ice and authority. He intimidated even army veterans. One look from him would probably make Tania tremble, and not with passion.
“Is he still single?” Tania asked hopefully.
Caroline didn't want to give her false hope, but she didn't want to lie either. “I think so.”
She had never heard of any girlfriends. Daniel lived on airplanes, bases, and government meetings. He was married to his country.
Tania squeezed Caroline's hand tightly, her eyes burning with the fire of romantic ambition.
“Honey, if you knew there was a brother available, why didn't you tell me sooner?!”
Tania began to paint the perfect picture in the air with her hands: “Just imagine: you married to Prince Charming and me married to his brother. We'd be sisters-in-law! Best friends becoming official family! Isn't that the dream?”
“Family dinners, Christmas together, gossip in the mansion... Once we become family, no one will be able to separate us!”
Caroline replied, “Hmm. It's an idea.”
“So, for the sake of my eternal happiness and to strengthen our friendship, you have to help me! Introduce me to this Greek god!”
Caroline looked at Tania's serious, dreamy expression.
If it were possible, she would love to have Tania as a sister-in-law. It would be the best family setup in the world. Tania would bring light and laughter to that rigid family.
But... Tania and Daniel Wolf?
Caroline tried to imagine the scene: the chaotic and fun Tania alongside the stern and scary Minister of Security.
It didn't seem like the most... safe combination. It would be like mixing fireworks with an iceberg.
Tania was a free spirit, outgoing and addicted to adrenaline. Could she really put up with a serious, austere, military man like Daniel Wolf?
It would be like trying to keep a hurricane inside a glass box.
Besides, before playing Cupid, Caroline would have to probe Nicholas. Was Daniel Wolf single? Was there a political arranged marriage in sight? These were dangerous waters.
“Tania, are you serious?” asked Caroline, raising an eyebrow. “Do you really want to know who his brother is, with ulterior motives?”
“Of course I do!” Tania smiled, without any shame. “A man who shares Nicholas' DNA and has Daniel Wolf's aura must be a genetic masterpiece. I definitely want to meet him. Even if he doesn't fall in love with me and we don't get married, just being ‘friends’ with a Greek god improves the view, don't you think?”
Caroline was speechless.
Right. Tania wasn't talking about eternal love; she just wanted another eye candy.
Realizing her friend's harmless superficiality, Caroline relaxed and gave up on lecturing her.
“Huh?”
Suddenly, Tania's expression changed. She stopped admiring the crystal chandelier and her eyes fixed on a spot behind Caroline.
An expression of genuine shock took over her face.
She widened her eyes and squeezed Caroline's forearm tightly.
“Carol, don't look now... I mean, look! Isn't that Sara over there?”
“Sara?”
Upon hearing her sister's name, Caroline's instincts kicked in. She immediately turned in the direction Tania was pointing.
A few seconds later, her eyes widened in utter disbelief.
There was a couple being led to a VIP table not far from them.
They both looked very young, probably around sixteen or seventeen.
The boy was wearing a casual designer outfit, all white—a white linen shirt and impeccable white pants. He was slim but athletic. His skin had that healthy glow of someone who had never had to work under the sun.
He was extraordinarily handsome. Even more handsome than many of the teen idols who appeared on TV. He had the classic aura of a rich and untouchable “young master.”
And the girl next to him...
It was Sara.
But not the frail, pale Sara from the hospital. She was dressed like a porcelain doll, covered in designer labels from head to toe. Her wavy brown hair was held back with a pink diamond barrette, and she looked delicate and sophisticated.
Visually, they were a perfect match.
The boy was at least 6 feet tall, while Sara barely reached his shoulders, creating that height difference that girls found adorable.
Caroline watched tensely as the waiter pulled out Sara's chair with extreme courtesy.
Sara sat down gracefully, adjusting her dress skirt, looking totally accustomed to that level of luxury and service.
The waiter then walked around the table to pull out the chair for the boy.
But the boy didn't sit down immediately.
He stood still, his hands in his pockets, looking at Sara with an expression that was not one of love. It was a look of boredom, bordering on displeasure.
“Wow, what's going on here?!” Tania whispered, unable to look away. “Is Sara on a date? With that little prince? Carol, since when does Sara have a boyfriend? Did you know about this?”
Caroline shook her head, stunned.
“No. I had no idea.”
It was the first time she had seen Sara with a boy. And in a place like that? Sara had said she would spend the night in the school dorm studying!
A thousand questions exploded in Caroline's mind. Who was he? Where did they meet? Why did Sara lie?
