Chapter 54: Chasing Alex
Varney couldn't explain what just happened. All he knew was that a certain part of his body was awake.
He went into the bathroom to have a cold shower.
He didn't think that Alex would choose such a method to prove her sexuality.
That was the most direct and effective method but did she have any idea what she did to him?
He would have embarrassed himself if she hadn't stopped at that moment.
As the cold water blasted on his back, Varney couldn't take it anymore, he reached downwards and relieved himself.
Coming out of the shower and dressing up, he placed a call across to Carol.
“Hey Varney, what a pleasant surprise.” Carol said from the other end of the call.
“Can you go somewhere private, I need to talk to you ” Varney said.
“Sure hold on.”
“Okay now we can talk. What's up?”
“I think I'm in trouble Carol” Varney said hesitantly.
“English Varney. What's happening?”
“ALEX!” was all he said.
“Oh Alex! The I see her like a baby sister Alex” Carol said smugly.
“How deep are you in?” Carol asked.
“Like water up to my chest deep.” Varney said sounding tired.
“Wow! That deep. I see why you said you are in trouble.” Carol said shaking her head.
“Last time in London I already noticed you were at ankle level deep but you said she was just a baby sister.
How did you manage to go from ankle to chest deep in just two months?”
“She kissed me a few moments ago and I think I might have just gotten to neck deep.” Varney said with a sigh.
“What? You are doomed man.”
“Come to think of it. Shouldn't you be happy unless you don't know where she stands” Carol said realization dawning on her.
“Exactly! I'm so fu. What do I do Carol?”
“Oh boi. This is serious. Well I guess it's time to slowly woo your woman.
Look let's talk about this another time. I was in the middle of packing for a trip.”
Carol hung up and Varney realized he just got himself in hot water...
Alex chose not to think about what she had just done.
She was sure Varney wouldn't question her sexuality again.
She opened her email on Golden's computer and went straight into doing her father's taxes.
After about an hour, she finally finished. She stood up and went to take a shower.
She entered the closet and changed into a pair of night wear.
Then she sent Fab a message
Alex: “Hey nerd. Do you have anything planned for Gigi's birthday?”
Fab: “Obviously. Why do you ask?”
Alex: “Cancel whatever you've planned. Golden hates her birthday and the whole holidays.”
Alex: “I would let you know when I come up with a new plan.”
Fab: “How's she feeling?”
Alex: “Better. I think she heard our conversation”
Fab: “What? How?”
Alex: “Let's talk later. I'm sleepy.p
The next morning Alex woke up to see Golden quietly reading a book and stroking her hair.
“How do you feel today Gigi?”
“I'm a lot better. I'm sorry I got you guys worried yesterday. Thank you for staying with me.” Golden dropped her book and looked at Alex.
“I'll always be there for you girl. Okay let's hurry down for breakfast I'm very hungry.”
Varney was already sitting at the table having his morning tea with some toasts bacon, eggs, and fruits.
“Morning Gigi. I see you slept well.”
“Morning V. I slept like a baby ” Golden went to hug her brother before sitting down.
“I also slept well, thanks for asking ” Alex said as she took his toast and bacon.
“Hey that's mine. Go ask Florence for yours.” Varney smacked Alex hand reaching for his food.
“Ouch! Gigi Varney is bullying me.”
“Ask Florence to bring you another one. I'm eating this one now.” Alex said and grabbed the whole plate of eggs.
Golden shook her head and smiled. She reached for Varney's tea and took a sip.
“You too fight like an old married couple. Just date already”
“I don't see you smacking Gigi for drinking your tea.” Alex said.
“She's nice, so it's different.” Varney said eating a bacon.
“And I am not?” Alex said raising an eyebrow.
“No you are not.”
“See! You guys are perfect for each other?” Golden said picking up a toast.
“I don't mind.” Varney said testing the waters.
“Really?” Golden turned to her brother excitedly.
“If it would make you happy. Sure!” he said casually.
“Alex? V has agreed. So what do you say?” Golden asked with a bright smile.
“Gigi, what did I say about matchmaking the last time?”
“It's different this time. The last time, you both weren't interested.
This time Varney is so I'm allowed to dream okay.”
“Then dream. But leave me out of it.”
Varney chuckled and Alex glared at him.
Alex decided to leave after breakfast. She still had to accompany her dad to pick up her Nana.
Golden decided to drive Alex home since she didn't come with her car. That way she could also accompany them to welcome Nana.
While Alex was taking a bath, Golden slipped off to Varney's room to talk to him.
“Hey V, are you serious about dating Alex?” she asked him.
“What do you think? So you think I was teasing her?”
“so you are serious?” Golden said excitedly.
“I think I have fallen in love with her Golden. And I don't know what to do about it.” Varney said sincerely.
“Eeeeeeeeeee!” Golden shrilled. “Dont worry now that you've finally fallen in love, we would chase her together.”
Golden went back to her room and soon they left the house to Chinatown.
Fab's call came in while they were on their way.
Alex was driving so Golden picked the call.
“Hey Fab what's up.” Golden greeted with a bright smile.
“Someone seems very happy today. Where are you girls off to?” Fab asked.
“We are off to Chinatown. Then we are off to the airport to pick Nana Chen.”
“Can I come? I'm bored as hell at home. Plus I'm eager to meet Nana Chen” Fab pleaded.
“Sure. If you can make it to Chinatown before we head to the airport, why not?” Alex said.
“I will see you girls in 15 minutes then.” Fab said and hung up.
Golden shook her head. “I have never seen a nerd that likes gossip as much as Fabulous.”
