Chapter 140 An uneasy feeling
Chapter 140: An Uneasy Feeling
After Rosa managed to dress Chloe up, the little munchkin wiggled her way out of Golden's hand and ran as fast as her little legs could carry her.
Rosa dropped down on the floor tired and exhausted.
“Gosh! I'm so drained. What I would give for a vacation right now.” Rosa said exhausted.
“Chloe gets on my nerves. Leo enjoys screaming his lungs out. And Neo, that's an old man in a child's body. I hear he behaves just like my deceased father-in-law.
Honestly Gigi, sometimes I just want to pack my bags and run because these Chen babies are a lot.” Rosa said lovingly.
As if on cue, they heard a child scream his tiny lungs out while running out of the room.
“Now that's Leo,” Rosa said jumping to her feet.
“Quingyu will you get back here. You need to wear your shoes.” Alex said running after her baby brother.
Chloe was the first of the triplets to start walking. She started walking at 7 months, more like hopping. Then she began pulling her brothers up.
The boys eventually started walking at 8 months. With the triplets walking, they always seemed to cause pockets of chaos.
Alex caught Leo before he could get far and tried to cover his mouth.
“Leo Quingyu Chen, will you stop screaming? You are about to burst my eardrums.”
She hadn't seen Golden yet. She was focused on getting Leo to stop screaming.
“If you stop screaming I'll give you a candy. Do you want candy?” Alex asked Leo.
The little one nodded his head and stretched out his tiny chubby hands for the candy.
“Shoes first, candy later. Deal?” Alex asked, showing Leo the candy.
“Hey big sis.” Golden said, trying to get Alex's attention.
“Gigi! What are you doing here?” She asked, putting Leo down and handing him the promised candy.
“I came to surprise you. I'm on break for one week and I couldn't miss the triplets' birthday. I told you I would see you soon.” Golden said, pulling Alex in for a hug.
“You look a mess.” Golden said, scanning Alex from top to bottom. Her hair was out of place, she had food stain on her top, and a comb stuck somewhere in her hair.
“Well Chloe gave me tough time when I was trying to do her hair. She kept pulling mine and touching my face.” Alex said trying to arrange her hair.
“Leo decided that his food would look better on my shirt so he threw up on me.” What can I say? Those minions would drive even the pope nuts.”
Little Neo came into the living room with a little bowl of cereal and went straight to Alex. “Xixi eat” he said, lifting his tiny spoon towards Alex's mouth.
Alex opened her mouth and ate the cereal. “Thanks Neo, Xixi like.” Alex said, rubbing his head as he walked away.
The party continued and the triplets had three outfit changes, each being a real struggle.
They gave everyone a hard time, except for Nana Chen for obvious reasons.
Fab showed up and was surprised to see Golden. He was obviously the triplets' favorite uncle because they kept jumping on him.
By the time it was time to cut the cake, Chloe grabbed a part of the cake with her chubby little hands and stuffed it in her mouth.
Not to be the only one causing mischief, she did it again and fed her brothers who happily opened their mouths to eat the cake offered by their sister.
By the time it was 6 p.m., the party ended. The kids had fallen asleep at different spots.
It was the only time they were peaceful. Chen gently picked up his daughter, while Rosa picked up Leo, and Nana Chen picked up Neo.
They took them in, cleaned them, and put them to bed.
“I feel like we just fought a battle, rather than host a one year olds party.” Fab said as he munched on a piece of cake.
“We did fight a battle. It's hard throwing a party for a one year old. Now talk about three one year olds. More so if the one year olds are Chen. You should expect the unexpected.” Alex said shaking her head.
“So Gigi, have you seen Allan since you got back?” Alex asked.
“No I have not. I intend to surprise him tomorrow. He's throwing a party for Tavia and Rema tomorrow. I intend to surprise him at the party.
Golden had been restless and agitated. She really wanted to see Allan but held back.
She had been tempted to tell him she was in town, but somehow held back. She imagined the look in his face when she showed up at his house.
Her agitation kept her up all night as she imagined different scenarios about their meeting after nearly two years.
Alex who had decided to spend the night at the Estate because she was in town couldn't take her tossing and turning anymore and chased her off the bed.
“Gigi on my maker, if you don't stop tossing I will hit you with this pillow.” Alex grunted.
“Sorry, I just can't sleep. Are you awake? Can we talk?” Golden said tugging Alex's night wear.
“No Gigi, I'm asleep. This had better be good. I've had one hell of a day and would really love to sleep.” Alex said as she removed her sleep mask.
“What's up babe, what has got you so restless?”
“Please don't be mad okay?” Golden began. “The thing is, I'm excited about seeing Allan tomorrow, but I'm also kinda scared.”
Alex took a deep breath. She couldn't believe that Golden woke her up for this. And at the same time, she understood her. This was a big deal for her.
“Okay Gigi, can you tell me exactly what's going on in your head? Why are you scared of seeing Allan?”
“Well, I don't know. We haven't seen each other in two years. Agreed, we've been talking and chatting and he's been so sweet.”
“So? What then is the problem, I don't get it.” Alex although muddled headed with sleep was trying to understand what Golden was saying.
“What if he has changed Alex? It's different talking on the phone and talking in real life.
What if he doesn't like me anymore but just kept in touch with me so that I don't feel bad and neglected like what happened with Africa.
I have this uneasy feeling that I can't explain and it's scary babe.”
“Okay baby, I need you to relax. Calm down okay? That's just your nerves speaking.
You've been away for two years so it's only normal for you to feel the way you are feeling. Regardless, you will be fine.”
