Chapter 108 Almost too late
Chapter 108: Almost Too Late
The ceremony ended and Golden decided to stop by the hospital to see Rema.
She went back to the Estate and changed into something more comfortable and decided to drive down to the hospital.
She had already told Allan the previous day that she would stop by the hospital after the wedding and hadn't bothered to inform him that she was coming.
However, Octavia had texted her to inform her that she was at the hospital and begged her to come visit.
Golden decided to take the elevator as she was too tired to use the stairs.
Rema's ward was on the third floor. While in the elevator, she was chatting with Alex who was still ranting about her cousins.
She had left the wedding reception early so she could go home and change before coming to see Rema.
Golden tried to calm her down and asked that she makes up an excuse and leave with Varney.
The elevator door dinged at her floor and as soon as the door opened, she was greeted with a rather surprising sight.
She saw Lindsay hugging Allan's waist and apologizing. He had his back to her so he didn't realize that Golden was there.
In fact, neither of them realized Golden was there.
“Don't be mad again Al, I have apologized. I didn't mean to kiss you, it was a spur of the moment decision.
And to be fair, you kissed me back too. It's not like I was the only one into it.
You only stopped because Trey saw us. But like I said, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have initiated the kiss.
Can you stop being angry with me now?” Lindsay said into Allan's chest.
“What? You guys kissed?” Octavia said with her eyes opened wide.
She had gone down to the second floor to get something from the vending machine and no one noticed when she came back up.
“Are you guys dating or what?” Octavia continued with her questions when she heard the elevator dinged again.
Golden had initially stepped out of the elevator the first time and stood rooted on the spot when she saw Lindsay hugging Allan.
When the elevator dinged again and opened, she subconsciously stepped back in.
She felt like she had been doused with ice water and didn't even realize she had turned and stepped back into the elevator.
“Gigi?” Octavia said, when she saw the back view of the person entering the elevator.
Hearing Octavia say Gigi's name caused Allan to freeze for a moment before breaking away from Lindsay's hug.
“Hey wait up Gigi!” Octavia immediately dashed into the elevator before it could close.
Lindsay was surprised that Allan had shoved her aside. What had gotten into him?
She had come to apologize to Allan for the kiss last night, even though she wasn't sorry it happened.
Allan hadn't been answering her calls or messages and so she decided to show up at the hospital and talk to him in person.
She had stayed a while and Allan still wasn't really speaking to her.
She asked him to see her off after staying in an awkward silence and when they got close to the elevator she decided to hug him and apologize.
She didn't think they would run into Octavia by the elevator and she would overhear their conversation.
She had felt Allan about to hug her back when Octavia spoke. But that wasn't even her major concern.
Allan had only reacted and slightly pushed her away when he heard his sister call Gigi.
Who the hell was Gigi, and why did Allan have just a huge reaction when he heard her name?
She looked up and caught the silhouette of a lady as Octavia dashed into the elevator just before it closed.
That silhouette looked very much like Golden Nixon, the girl that Allan had been with at the cinema.
Why was she in the hospital? And what was going on between Allan and her that caused him to push her away?
“Allan wait!” Lindsay tried to catch up with him as he made for the stairs.
In the Elevator
“Hey Gigi, did you forget something downstairs? Rema has been expecting you.” Octavia asked trying to pretend like she wasn't noticing the awkward smile on Gigi's face.
Clearing her throat. “Yeah, I forgot the fruit basket I brought in the car, so I decided to go get it.” Gigi said unconvincingly.
She had actually forgotten the fruit basket she brought, but that wasn't her reason for going back down.
The fruit basket was just the perfect excuse to avoid processing what she had just witnessed.
Meanwhile, Allan was taking the stairs two by two. His heart beating violently in his chest.
Last night, he had avoided replying her text when she asked if he liked Lindsay.
Now he was seriously hoping that she hadn't heard anything because there was no way he could talk himself out of it.
Lindsay tried catching up with him and he heard her call his name but he couldn't care less.
It would be better for him if Gigi just got out of the elevator when Octavia noticed her.
He really cared about her and didn't want to hurt her and he knew that if she found out that he kissed another lady, she would be hurt.
The first time he kissed Lindsay was for a game, what was his excuse now?
He hadn't expected Lindsay to show up at the hospital. He ignored her calls and messages on purpose because he hadn't figured out how to process what happened last night.
He finally got downstairs and hurried to the door, where he saw Octavia and Gigi coming towards the hospital door, laughing at something.
He heaved a sigh of relief and composed himself. Maybe Gigi didn't hear anything after all.
“Gosh Al, what got into you? You ran like someone was chasing you?” Lindsay who couldn't run after Allan decided to take the elevator to meet him downstairs.
“Bro why did you run down the stairs?” Octavia asked seeing her brother a little ruffled up.
“I was trying to catch Gigi before she left.”
“She wasn't leaving. She forgot the fruit basket she got for Rema in the car and came back down to get it.” Octavia said, before Gigi could say anything.
“Let me help you with that.” Allan said with a forced smile as he stretched to collect the fruit basket from Golden.
“Sorry, I wouldn't be able to see you off to your car Lin. Rema is alone in the room and we need to get back to him.
Drive safe okay? and text me when you get home.” Allan said as he side stepped Lindsay and continued towards the elevator like she was just a casual friend.
