"She told the doctors before dying that you and I will be the legal guardians of the baby," said Zayd.

"Ned... " I traced my fingers over the letter.

"Are you all right with this?" he asked. There was concern in his eyes.

I laughed amidst my tears. "Is that even a question? He is ours. Not just legal guardians, we will adopt him."

Zayd smiled and put his arm around my shoulder, as we watched Ned together.

"We will," he said.
