Prologue

“I can’t believe you would do this to me, Daniel!” Victoria’s voice trembled as she stared at her husband, disbelief etched on her face.

Daniel scoffed, crossing his arms. “You’re being dramatic, Vic. You don’t even know the full story.”

Her heart pounded. “The full story? I just found out you’ve been seeing someone else! How could you betray our family like this?”

He let out a sharp laugh, shaking his head. “Betray our family? That’s rich, coming from you.”

Victoria’s brows furrowed. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

Daniel stepped closer, his tone turning accusing. “You’ve been so distant, so consumed with everything else but us. Always busy, always preoccupied. Did you ever stop to think about how that made me feel?”

Her breath caught. “Are you seriously blaming me right now?”

“I’m just saying, Vic,” he continued, voice edged with frustration. “You pushed me away. I tried to talk to you, but you shut me out. What was I supposed to do?”

She stared at him, speechless. “You don’t get to twist this around. You made a choice, Daniel. You lied, you cheated—”

“And maybe if you had been paying attention, it wouldn’t have happened,” he cut in, his eyes darkening.

A bitter laugh escaped her lips. “Wow. So now it’s my fault? Unbelievable.”

Daniel exhaled sharply. “I didn’t say that. But if you’re looking for someone to blame, maybe start with yourself.”

Victoria felt a fresh wave of anger surge through her. The weight of his words settled over her like a cold, suffocating blanket. He wasn’t sorry—he never was. And suddenly, she saw him for what he truly was.

Her hands trembled, but her voice was steady. “You know what, Daniel? I’m done listening to your excuses.”

She turned on her heel, already imagining the next step. If he wanted to play games, she’d make sure he regretted it.

“You’ll regret this, Victoria,” he called after her, his voice laced with warning.

But she only smirked, her resolve unshaken. “No, Daniel. I think for once, you will.”

And with that, she walked away, ready to rewrite her own story—on her own terms.
