I was in my room when I heard my father complain about my weakness and how I couldn’t do well in the duel yesterday. It was a shame for him, and he didn’t want to see my presence at all. I was already used to letting him down, so there were no tears left in my eyes to roll down my cheeks.
I curled up on my bed, thinking of the man who would be my mate in the near future. I couldn’t wait for a nice and loving man that would take me far away from this despair.
Suddenly, I heard the sound of my door opening, and I was certain that it was my sisters coming in, and I was correct.
"Are you even sorry for making your existence a pain in the ass? Now, Father is angry and is finding it hard to keep his head high because of you." Gina said, looking at me with disgust.
"I think you are a mistake. Now we have to deal with your mess." Annie added, folding her arms as she scoffed.
My sisters were my biological sisters, but anyone who saw how they acted towards me would think that we were stepsisters. I had always wished that they would support me regardless of what happened, but it was the reverse. I couldn’t hate or blame them though; it was hard to be with a weak wolf.
The next day, my father called me to the sitting room, and my sisters were also present there. I wondered what he wanted to announce, and I felt honored to be called because most important decisions were discussed without me.
"I have called you three to let you know that I will be adding Dusk to the list of those who will be sold at the auction in a few days." He announced, with his fingers interlocked and his chin resting on it.
It felt as if a heavy rock was placed in my heart, and I was broken in two. Although the auction was a cue for me to escape this horrible situation I am in here with my family, I still felt pained that my father was willing to sell me off without feeling guilty or anything. He was not only my father but also the alpha, so there was no way I could reject his decision.
Later that night, after shedding hot tears, I encouraged myself to look at the bright side of being sold out. I hoped that I would be sold out to a nice man who would take care of me and wouldn’t make me feel less of myself. I also wished that he was powerful and would attract respect and influential people to me.
I had imagined so many times living a beautiful life with my man and giving birth to beautiful kids that would take after us. Now, my dream seems like it could become reality, and I was anticipating that very day. Every day, I lived with positivity in my heart because I believed that my prince charming would come to take me soon, so I ignored the taunts I got from my sisters.
The D-day came, and I was taken to the dressing room to prepare me for the auction. They gave me a new dress that suited me, and I was dragged to the stage, where others who were going to be sold stood. I looked at the faces of the people who came to buy any of us, and I hoped that the man who would buy me wouldn't be an abusive person.
In a few minutes, after waiting for a while, I sensed a presence. I quickly searched the crowd with my eyes, and my eyes caught the sight of a man making his way to sit down. My soul and wolf connected to him immediately. I could see his eyes wandering, as if he also sensed that his mate was here; his eyes caught mine, but he looked away quickly with no expression on his face.
I felt relieved, and the rays of hope shone on me because my mate was here, and since he was my mate, I could imagine the glorious life that awaits me.
"Now, the next she-wolf to be sold, Dusk Odolf. The basic price to get her is $200. Who is going to buy her?" The bidder said, as he looked at the buyers’ faces.
I looked at my mate’s face and hoped that he would raise his hand, but he didn’t raise his hand. Instead, it seemed like he was avoiding eye contact with me. I became devastated when I noticed he didn’t seem interested in buying me. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I tried my best to keep them from falling.
"$250." Another buyer said, raising his hands.
"$250. It’s going. Anyone else?" The bidder asked, his eyes wandering around.
No one else raised their hands, not even my mate. The bidder was about to close my case when I heard a voice.
"$500." The voice sounded cool, although icy.
I looked in the direction where the voice came from; it was my mate. I was overjoyed, and I tried my best not to jump to show the joy that overwhelmed me.
No one bid higher than that, so I was sold to him. I was sold to my mate!
When it was time to leave, I followed him even if he didn’t say a word to me. I was glad that I was finally leaving this place.
We got to his palace, and I was wowed by the beautiful things I saw there. It was a nice place to stay, and I was certain that I would be treated with love and care, especially since I was brought in by someone like him. He seemed to be an important person in this palace, probably the son of the alpha here.
"Take her to see the Alpha first." He instructed one of the maids.
I felt so special, but that feeling disappeared when I got to the Alpha of the kingdom. When he turned to look at me, all I could make out was a disgusted expression.
"What is this?" He questioned, looking at me with disdain flickering in his eyes.
